Advanced Surfacing

During my coop, I spent time becoming acquainted with surface modeling in Solidworks, which became crucial for the design of numerous parts that were used for testing

Water Kettle

This water kettle is a small project that I worked on to practice and develop my advanced surfacing skills. This required hours of modeling in order to learn how to best optimize my design tree for ease of use which is especially crucial when multiple engineers are working on files.

Skills Used

  • Sketch Picture as a reference for initial design

  • Surface offset to easily copy and manipulate surfaces

  • Thicken and Thicken Cut to create indents and grips

  • Project curve to convert a 2D sketch to 3D

Coffee Grinder Funnel Attachment

This part was used in testing for a combined coffee grinder and coffee maker. Later versions of this part were refined for mass manufacturability, this includes adding drafts, split lines, and optimizations for injection molding
